On a mission to Get Salty
It all started with a stubborn drive to get the job done, and a firefighter working with a tight wallet.
For most of my career, I found myself buying the cheaper option when it came to gear. It worked in a pinch, but time and time again, I learned the same lesson: cheap gear doesn’t last. It wore out quickly, failed when it mattered, and often became uncomfortable during long hours on the fireground. Growing up on a ranch, I was surrounded by real, quality leather gear that was built right and still holds up to this day.
When I was assigned to a truck company, I quickly realized the burden of every tool I needed to carry and how important dependable equipment truly is. With very little leatherworking experience and even less money in my pocket, I started looking at truck belts. Instead of buying one, I decided to make my own. That first belt lit a spark. I began building pieces for myself, testing ideas, learning what worked, and plenty of what didn’t. Every piece taught me something. Before long, other firefighters started asking me to build gear for them as well. What began as a small personal project quickly grew into a passion.
In early 2025, Get Salty Leatherworks officially came to life, and it has been growing ever since. Today, we craft premium, dependable leather gear built specifically for the men and women of emergency services. By combining time-honored craftsmanship with real-world fireground experience, we create gear that stands up to the toughest conditions while delivering durability, function, and pride in every piece. As a firefighter-owned and operated company, we are dedicated to serving those who serve, one hand-built product at a time.
